I used to go listen to the Leon Berger Band back in around 1979, at the Chalmers Street Musicians Club in Surry Hills, Sydney. Those were great memories. Leon had a swag of catchy original tunes and a cracking band of musos to deliver them. It was at one of these many Muso Club gigs that I took my Sony Portable Cassette Recorder along to record what I thought was an outstanding live band. The Leon Berger Band are: Leon Berger on vocals, piano & Prophet 5. Rex Goh on guitar (later replaced by Brenton White), Andy Burns on Rhodes Oberheim and Minimoog, Paul Kneipp on drums (brilliant drummer!), Tim Brosnan on Bass. The sound at the Musos Club was excellent and the audience was always appreciative and vocal. Leon mixed his fantastic originals with a selection of cleverly chosen and brilliantly interpreted covers. At the end of the night, everyone made their way towards the stairs that led down to the ground floor and out onto Chalmers Street past the Hot Dog guy. My live record! ing of the Leon Berger Band comprises of the following songs. 01. When The Night. 02. Sold My Soul. 03. What The Money Can't Buy. 04. The Naked Truth. 05. Changi. 06. Strawberry Fields. 07. I Am The Walrus.
